Poulin, Fast, Knight finalists for PWHL Billie Jean King MVP award

The PWHL has announced the finalists for its most prestigious individual award.

Marie-Philip Poulin of the Montreal Victoire, Renata Fast of the Toronto Sceptres and Hilary Knight of the Boston Fleet are the finalists for the 2024-25 Billie Jean King MVP award.

This award is presented to the player considered most valuable to their team’s success in the regular season.

Poulin is a finalist for the second straight season after leading her team to the best record in the regular season while scoring 26 points in 30 games. The Victoire captain scored 25.7 per cent of her team’s total goals and ended the season with a record-setting plus-17 rating.

Fast is the first defender to be a finalist for the MVP award. She finished in the top three in both hits and blocked shots this season while leading all defenders with 16 assists.

Knight is a finalist after finishing tied for the league lead in scoring with 29 points in 30 games. The Fleet captain led her team in goals (15) and assists (14) in the regular season.

The voting for the Billie Jean King MVP award took place between the end of the regular season and the beginning of the playoffs.

The Toronto Sceptres’ Natalie Spooner was the inaugural recipient, winning over Poulin and the New York Siren’s Alex Carpenter last season.

The Billie Jean King MVP winner, alongside six other award winners, will be announced on June 25 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Ottawa.
