Giants Star to Lead Team USA Flag Football as Face of Program

The NFL has given the green light for its players to represent Team USA in Olympic Flag Football at the 2028 Games. Los Angeles will host this first-ever Olympic flag football tournament at BMO Stadium — current home to LAFC and Angel City FC.

While we’re still three years away from the opening ceremony, fans and analysts are already building their dream rosters for America’s flag football squad.

Sure, superstars like Patrick Mahomes and Justin Jefferson dominate early discussions — but by 2028, one rising star from New York might be the perfect centerpiece for Team USA’s attack.

Malik Nabers: The Giants’ Olympic X-Factor

Giants wideout Malik Nabers took the league by storm during his rookie campaign. Despite battling injuries, he racked up 1,204 yards — becoming New York’s first 1,000-yard receiver since OBJ in 2018. His explosive playmaking ability jumped off the screen each Sunday, showing exactly why the G-Men grabbed him sixth overall.

Nabers has already flashed his potential in the flag football format. At the 2025 Pro Bowl Games, he found the end zone twice during limited flag football snaps. His quick-twitch athleticism and route-running precision make him tailor-made for the faster, more open style of flag football.

While Jefferson and Chase are obvious picks right now, timing matters. By 2028, those stars will be entering their late 20s — potentially past their athletic peaks. Meanwhile, Nabers (who’ll be just 25 during the LA Games) should be hitting his prime years as a receiver. His combination of size, speed, and hands would create mismatch nightmares for international defenses.

There’s always the risk Nabers might choose to skip the Olympics to avoid injury and focus on his NFL career — especially if he’s developed into the franchise cornerstone many expect. But if he decides to wear the red, white, and blue, his skillset projects as a perfect fit for the WR1 role on Team USA’s inaugural Olympic flag football squad.
