Erik Brannstrom signs three-year deal with Switzerland’s Lausanne Hockey Club

Erik Brannstrom is heading overseas to try to revitalize his hockey career.

The former NHL defenceman has signed a three-year deal with the Lausanne Hockey Club, the Swiss team announced Monday.

The 25-year-old Swede ended his 2024-25 campaign with Buffalo’s AHL affiliate in Rochester, N.Y., after the Sabres acquired him in a deadline deal with the New York Rangers.

Brannstrom was traded to the Rangers by the Vancouver Canucks in the J.T. Miller deal earlier in the season.

A first-round pick (15th overall) by the Vegas Golden Knights in 2015, Brannstrom started his NHL career with Ottawa after he was traded to the Senators in the Mark Stone deal in 2019.

Brannstrom has 10 goals and 67 assists in 294 career NHL games with the Senators and Canucks.
